about

Summa Technologiae is Stanislaw Lem's (1921-2006) work which causes an enormous impression by its deep content and solid approach to the subject. This book shows addictive and fluent narration immersed in an ocean of erudition and the writer's recognisable sense of humour. It is serious, idealistic and deeply philosophical. We can conclude that the book is timeless from the perspective of the decades which separate us from the first edition. Many of its ideas manifest themselves in today's reality, but we have to remember that they were formed inside the mind of the man living behind the iron curtain in a gloomy period of real socialism, mental stagnation and accumulating political, economic and social problems. This gives clear evidence of Lem's intellectual capacity and imagination.

Music in this album is first and foremost a tribute to the great man. The titles of the composition refer to the original book chapters. They are my subjective attempt to translate their contents into a language of synthetic and mysterious sounds. They go beyond our terrestrial backyard to the wide world of stars, space flights and alien civilizations. As far as I was able to achieve this, I leave the assessment to my honourable listeners. I hope that slightly more than an hour spent with the musical illustration to Summa Technologiae will let you step away from the problems of everyday life and embark on a journey to a land of sonic imagination. This would be for me the best reward of toil and effort invested in the preparation of this artistic debut.

Technical info: All the tracks on this album are mixed together in such way that the end of the track is the beggining of the next one. There is a need to use gapless function in the player to avoid short breaks between the compositions.
